I interviewed talk-show host and celebrity Wendy Williams some months ago and got so caught up in her boundless energy and vigor for life, I missed the chance to ask her about her thoughts on dressing like she's in love. However, I did ask her a variety of other questions that are sort of related:
Me with Wendy Williams in Houston. |
Do you feel bigger than life?
I don’t feel so huge. My son said to me, "Mommy, people really love you You are a really big deal." I'm glad he was able to see that. I’m a wife and mother and have a busy life. I
happen to have a job on TV. I don’t feel big. I feel just regular. I don’t want
to lose this feeling because when you become affected is when you become a jerk or not relateable or
something. Perhaps, that’s one of the things people are drawn to.
Are you a glamour girl?
I admit, I'm bit of a glamour girl. I like my heels and my wigs. I do love
my makeup and everything, but I love to take them off at the end of the show, go grocery shopping and cook for my family. I really do these
things. I sew a button on clothing and things like that.
Are you makeup girl, too?
I like makeup for the show, but I don't like it in my everyday life. I really like my skin to breathe.
How many wigs do you have?
Seven wigs in rotation.
Didn't you and your glam squad receive an Emmy in 2011?
Yes, we got the Emmy for hair and makeup. We were up against The View.
Hey, this is an Emmy–award winning wig. (She fluffs her wig.) Don’t criticize.
You have beautiful skin. What do you do?
You
can see it? Oh, thank you. Thank you. I take off my makeup as soon as
we’re finished for the day. You have to take care of your skin.
How long does it take you to get ready?
Wardrobe that’s easy. Just give me something, and I can wear it as long as I
stay within my weight range. The wigs get done, while my makeup is getting
done. My whole glam squad and I can get it together in 45 minutes. No lie.
Hair, makeup, wardrobe. It’s a fairly simple thing
getting me together because there’s a formula. I love dresses, I love heels. Oh, I love hair, too.
Where does your energy come from?
I’ve got boundless energy, and I always have. It’s not from
a bunch of coffee or anything like that. I take after my mother. She’s the most
sunshiny person I know. She knows how to turn lemons into lemonade.
Do you ever get tired of fans screaming your fave saying, "How you doin?"
I love meeting Wendy Watchers. When I'm up close and personal, they say, "Oh, that's the flower ring you wear on the show. Your wig looks looks good or
it looks terrible in person. And oh, you really are tall." I enjoy seeing my people.
