A few years ago, I was invited to a party for the fashion designer Zac Posen at the home of an ultra-chic socialite. For the occasion, I purchased my first high-end designer dress on a huge sale at Tootsies in Houston. It was a Ralph Lauren black dress with a bib of ruffles, and it accentuated my assets: my shoulders and legs. I felt absolutely fabulous in it.
I wore the dress to Zac's pre-party fashion show at Neiman Marcus. After the show, we waited side by side at the car-valet area. He didn't know my name or that I had written about his runway collections countless times, but he turned turn to me, touched my arm and said with such honesty, "Love the dress. You look fabulous!"
Kinda cool when others recognize.
